Elwa Productions was founded in 2007 by brothers JohnJ. and Whitney McGurk. The endeavor was developed to work closely with innovative emerging artists and talent to create exhibitions, independent projects, artist mulitples and editions. Our goal is to not only fulfill the artist's desire to show their work, but to also guide young collectors in acquiring original art to begin and grow their collections.
John J. McGurk, co-founder and curator of Elwa Productions has been a strong and leading advocate of contemporary art for years. He has been involved in many projects intended to help bring exposure to unrepresented contemporary artists. Presently the director of the Mikhail Zakin Gallery, NJ, he has also managed numerous galleries including Aicon Gallery, NY and the Firehouse 13, Providence, RI. Other projects and creative endeavors include: co-founder of the PIPS collective, curator of the Provflux festival of public art, consultant for the Providence based ARC company, and founder of the UAU, a "social sculpture" and ongoing project.
Whitney McGurk, co-founder and director of outreach, has had a strong interest in art history and the creative arts since a young age. His professional career has been concentrated in "new media" and business development for two leading ad agencies in NYC. With Elwa he is director of exhibition production and outreach.
